Invitation

1. Who can participate?

   Photographers and photography students born or living in Latin America, Spain, or Portugal. Both individual and collective submissions are accepted and there are no restrictions on subject matter.

2. How many projects can each participant submit?

   There is no limit, providing there is a separate registration for each project.

3. How are projects submitted?

   Participants should submit a photobook proposal in PDF form, with the sequence of images, format, and design as fully developed as possible.

4. What projects are ineligible?

   Any project previously published in book form or whose authorship cannot be proven by the participant will be rejected. The projects may contain some photographs that have previously been published in a book.

5. How do I register?

   Registration is done through the “Registrations” link of the webpage: www.concurso.editorialrm.com

Selection of the winning project and honorable mentions

The winning project and honorable mentions will be chosen by a jury made up of distinguished figures from the world of international photography.

On Thursday, November 23rd, 2017, RM will publicly announce the winning project and the honorable mentions of the Seventh RM Photobook Award on the competition webpage (www.concurso.editorialrm.com) and at a public event at the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City.

The winning project will be published in the form of a photobook, in Spanish and English, with a minimum print run of 1,000 copies, and distributed worldwide through RM’s extensive distribution network.

The will also award honorable mentions to three other outstanding projects.

Prizes

WINNING PROJECT

• Publication of the winning project in the form of a photobook, in Spanish and English, with a minimum print run of 1,000 copies and worldwide distribution.
• 50 complimentary copies for the author.
• Promotion of the photobook through the media, social networks, and RM’s webpage and catalogue, with review copies sent to opinion leaders, specialists, journalists, and photography scholars around the world.

HONORABLE MENTIONS

• A selection of complimentary photobooks published by RM.
• Promotion of the work in the media, through social networks, and on RM’s webpage.

Registration Periods and costs

Cost:
500 pesos for registration in Mexico.
€23.95 or US$25.54 for registration elsewhere.

Registration period:
From Monday, May 15th to Friday, September 1st, 2017.

In other words, once you have registered, you will have until 23:59 h on Friday, September 1st, 2017 (Mexico City time) to upload your submission to the link indicated.

EXCEPTION: Residents of Cuba or Venezuela who wish to participate may send an email to concurso.fotolibro@editorialrm.com

Material to be submitted

All participants must upload a single file containing the project submitted by means of the link indicated.

The file must meet the following specifications:
Type of file: PDF
Size: From 5 to 20 MB maximum.
Name of file: Must match the registration code, followed by a hyphen and the name of the project submitted.

For example: K17-Name of project.pdf

If the project is selected, the participant must guarantee the delivery to RM of high-resolution images (uncompressed TIFF format with a minimum width of 35 cm and resolution of 300 dpi).

Submission of files

Once the registration process is complete, participants may upload their projects to the link indicated.

The period for submitting projects begins on From Monday, May 15th, 2017 and ends on Friday, September 1st, 2017, at 23:59 h (Mexico City time). No submissions will be accepted after this period.

Results

RM will publicly announce the winning project and the honorable mentions on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017, on the webpage of the competition (www.concurso.editorialrm.com), in its newsletter, which we will send to registered participants, and at an event open to the public to be held on the same date at the Centro de la Imagen in Mexico City.

Terms and Conditions

• Participants may submit one or several projects independently.
• Each submission must have a registration code.
• Material that does not meet the specifications indicated will be rejected.
• There are no restrictions on the content of the images. The subject matter is open.
• When registering, the participant must swear under oath that he or she is the owner of the images and texts submitted and holds their copyright and the right to reproduce them.
• Participants must give RM authorization to publish a book in Spanish and English with the photographs submitted and to modify the design and format of the book if it deems fit.
• Participants must allow the printing, distribution, and sales of the book published with the images and texts submitted.
• Participants must grant to RM to the right to publish the photographs solely and exclusively in the book of the winning project of the Seventh RM Photobook Award.
• Participants must grant to RM the right to use the images in digital form for the promotion of the competition on its webpage, newsletters, and social media.
• High-resolution (350 dpi) images must be submitted, either full-size or at least 35 cm wide.
• Participants must guarantee the copyright and intellectual property of the photographs, in the event of their being portraits of persons.
• Participants must guarantee the copyright of any texts or phrases used in the project submitted.
